Best Photoshoot Locations Byron Bay – Studios & Outdoor

Byron Bay has always been a magnet for creatives, and it’s easy to see why. This beautiful coastal town isn’t just a recent hotspot, it has a rich history of inspiring creativity. From stunning sun-drenched beaches to dreamy studio spaces, Byron has it all when it comes to incredible spots for a photoshoot. Here’s a list of my absolute go-to locations.

1. The Hinterland Studio - Clunes

The Hinterland Studio, located just 20 minutes from Byron Bay, perched on a ridge in Clunes, is a hidden gem. This space blends warmth and character. The oversized timber entrance doors, handcrafted with recycled Burmese teak, make for a stunning backdrop, while the white French doors, salvaged from a yard, add a touch of vintage charm. The Mediterranean-inspired archway and soft corners bring an elegant, European feel, complemented by large windows that flood the space with natural light. Ideal for fashion and homewares shoots, the studio offers versatility with its beautiful textures and thoughtfully designed elements. The team is onsite in a small corner office but will leave you to work your magic, aside from a friendly hello at the coffee machine in the shared kitchen, you’ll relish in this beautiful light spilled space all to yourself.

2. Studio You and I - Bangalow

Designed as a blank canvas for creators, Studio You & I in Bangalow is perfect for editorial shoots as it has a cyclorama, a gorgeous vintage lounge, concrete floors and an expansive white backdrop. This spacious studio isn’t just for photoshoots, it’s also an incredible venue for pop-ups, brand activations, and intimate events. Whether you're capturing a campaign or hosting a creative gathering, Studio You & I provides an inspiring and versatile space to make it happen. The owners are also lovely down-to-earth people so highly recommend!

3. Blanc Studio - Byron Bay

Blanc Studio is minimalist heaven. Nestled in the heart of Byron Bay's Arts and Industry Estate (what we call, Sunrise or The Induzzy), Blanc Studio is a haven with two intentionally designed studios. Studio 001 is good for shooting look-books, e-commerce imagery, dynamic campaigns and UGC; whereas studio 002 offers a good setting for lifestyle photography as it has furnishings, a prop cupboard, and a fully functional kitchen. The sleek light grey flooring and expansive white cyclorama create a versatile canvas, while the roller door allows for complete light control—we love.

4. Nowe Studios - Byron Bay

Nowe Studios, launched by the incredibly talented @jcseelenmeyer and @leaseelenmeyer on 22/2, is one of those places I’ve been eagerly waiting to shoot at. While I haven’t had the pleasure of working there yet, every glimpse I’ve seen makes it look like an absolute dream. Their motto, ‘A home of art, design, and creative minds,’ feels spot on. The space exudes creativity, with an atmosphere that's clearly made for those who live and breathe art. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds and hopefully get behind the lens there soon—it’s definitely one to watch.

5. Wategos Beach

It’s no secret that Wategos Beach is one of the most picturesque spots in Byron. Yes, it gets busy, but if you hit it at sunrise, you’ll get those perfect rock formations scatted at the north and south end of the beach.

6. Broken Head

Broken Head is the underrated gem of Byron’s coastline. Head to the south end, and you’ll find rich terracotta-coloured rock formations that contrast beautifully with the deep blue ocean. It’s a textured, earthy dream.

7. St Helena's Lookout

For a completely different vibe, St Helena’s Lookout is an absolute must. Rolling green hills, panoramic views over the hinterland, and if you’re lucky, a few curious cows wandering up to the fence. The sunset glow here is pure magic, creating an almost ethereal golden light over the farmlands.
